Thomas Moravec Obituary

Thomas John Moravec, 76, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa. A memorial service for Thomas John Moravac will be 11:00 am, Saturday December 27, 2025, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 2712 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Friends Cemetery Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family of Thomas Moravec Memorial, ℅ Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126.

Thomas J. Moravec was born August 24, 1949, in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Anton John (Tony) and Neva Jean (Valentine) Moravec. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1968. He entered the United States Army on May 5, 1971 and was discharged on February 23, 1973. During the Vietnam conflict he received several medals including the Bronze Star and distinguished Flying Cross with valor. After his service, he attended and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. Tom worked for the United States Postal Service until retirement. He was a member of Hyman Peavey American Legion Post # 188 Iowa Falls, past Noble Grand of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge #100 Iowa Falls, and Meadow Hills Golf Course. Tom was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls, serving time on the council. Tom enjoyed going to Mexico each winter, hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing and he was a taxidermist. One of Tom’s highlights of his hunting adventures was shooting  the world record turkey in 1990. He donated the mounted turkey to Calkins Campus in Iowa Falls.

Tom is survived by his siblings: Linda Moravec of Clive; Steven (Bonnie) Moravec of West Des Moines; David Moravec of Bryan,Texas; and Diane (LeRoy) Ziesman of Iowa Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Tony and Neva Moravec and a niece: Angela Pavik.
